As an Alliance College-Ready Public School with a college bound culture, Heritage College-Ready Academy High School is not only interested in getting our students into college but getting them through college successfully.

 

Our focus for 2007-2008 was to promote college as much as possible. College recruiters visited our site to promote their schools. Students went on college tours of UC Irvine, UC San Diego, San Diego State University, Occidental College, and Whittier College. 92% of our juniors attended the National Association of College Admissions Counseling (NACAC) Fair. In addition, 32 juniors participated in a Northern California College Tour and visited ten colleges, including Stanford University, UC Berkeley, CSU Monterey Bay, UC Santa Cruz, and San Francisco State University. Students were able to speak to admissions representatives and ask pertinent questions as they prepare themselves for the admissions process during their senior year.

 

To prepare our students for the college admissions process, students have various opportunities to assist their development. The PSAT was administered to all students regardless of grade level. Kaplan ACT test prep was incorporated into junior-level Advisory curriculum. Juniors also participated in Kaplan SAT test preparatory courses through Saturday workshops and elected to take community college courses through the Los Angeles Community College District to get ahead in their college credits.

 

Overall, Heritage is a school with dedicated students and staff. Students are progressing well academically and personally. All students are encouraged to take pride in our school, become a part of the great traditions and culture being built every day, make wise decisions about their future, and take advantage of the opportunities that are available to them at Heritage.

 

The academic offerings and various co-curricular activities provide all students with a rich and meaningful learning experience. It is up to each and every student to devote their best effort to take advantage of all that we have to offer. Students are encouraged to spend their time wisely, apply themselves, to their studies, enrich their mind, build meaningful relationships, and have a great time during these four short years.

 

As your new principal, my commitment to the academic achievement and social and emotional development well being of our students is very important. I am extremely confident that Heritage College Ready High School will continue to rise to new levels of excellence, given the commitment of the new administration the staff and the active parent/guardian support.
