As we approach the 5th week of the second semester, please ensure that your student attends school everyday on time, turns in homework as requested, and follows our academic and behavior expectations. Students who are having academic difficulties or who need a quiet place to study after-school are encouraged to attend our after school Homework Club on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 3:30 -4:30 pm. Laptops are available for internet research projects or typing reports.
CAHSEE –California High School Exit Exam
As per our previous announcements and newsletters, the CAHSEE will be given to all 10th graders on March 20 – 21. It’s imperative that your student attend school on both days. State law, passed in 1999, requires that all students in California public schools pass this exam in order to receive a high school diploma. CAHSEE support classes will continue to be offered on Saturday’s from 9 -11AM until March 17, 2007.
PARENT ADVISORY
Once again I want to thank and acknowledge the parents who attended our last Parent Advisory Council meeting. (See attached list) Our students have the greatest chance of succeeding when their parents are actively involved. Parents if you want your child to succeed - I need you to do your part. I should be able to list every parent name on this list, not just a few parents who are keeping their commitment to support their child. I look forward to seeing you at our next Parent Advisory Meeting which will be held on March 14th, 2007 from 5:30 to 7:00.
Fall Semester Honor Roll
Our first student Honor Roll Assembly was held on Friday, March 2, 2007 at the 112th Street Elementary School Auditorium. We had a total of fifty-one students receive honors. We also had six students make the Principal’s List with a perfect GPA of 4.0. All fifty-one students honored received a week of free dress (March 5-9) with students on the Principal List receiving a $50 gift certificate. Please encourage your student to strive for success and end up with their name on the list.
Museum of Tolerance
As previously announced, all 10th Graders will take a field trip to the Museum of Tolerance on Monday, March 12th, 2007, from 12:00 -3:30. Buses for this trip will leave school @ 11:00 & 11:30 respectively. Students must be in uniform and will not be permitted to attend without a field trip permission slip. All students will be provided with lunch from 10:30 – 11:00 AM. Buses should arrive back at Heritage between 4:00 - 4:30 pm. In cases of an emergency, please contact the school directly.
Student of the Month
Congratulations to David Gardea (9th Grade) and Susan Torres (10th Grade) for being selected as January Students of the Month. Both students received a certificate and a $50 Gift Certificate.

- Please calendar April 18 & April 25, 2007 for our next Parent Leadership Academy from 5:00 – 7:30.
- Spring semester tutoring is now available after school in all subject areas. Please contact your child’s teacher for times and dates.
- Five-week progress reports will be mailed out during the week of March 19th.
